About West Kerr Community Scholarships

“West Kerr Community Scholarships” is an organization whose sole purpose is……

”to give assistance, in the form of scholarships, to deserving Ingram Tom Moore High School Graduates for continuing education – academic or vocational.”

The organization was formed in 1985 and in May of 1992 the Texas Secretary of State approved Articles of Incorporation. The U.S. Internal Revenue Service issued a letter declaring the “West Kerr Community Scholarships” a 501c3 non-profit organization. Gifts to the organization are tax deducible within the current IRS codes.

Over $286,750 in scholarships has been awarded to date to 147 graduating seniors.

“West Kerr Community Scholarships” is a private foundation which is under the direction of a Board of Directors. Board members are chosen from Ingram ISD faculty and staff and from citizens of the west Kerr County community. The board raises and invests funds and awards scholarships.

All funds are either awarded as scholarships or invested for future scholarships.

A major fundraiser, the “Scholarship Gala”, is held each year and includes dinner, dancing, and silent and live auctions.

Scholarships are awarded at the High School Awards night. Deserving persons in the school system and the community are recognized in a celebration of excellence at the annual Scholarship Gala.

Scholarship winners have gone on to some of the finest universities and technical colleges in the country. They include California Institute of Technology, University of Texas at Austin and San Antonio, Trinity University, Austin College, Texas A&M University, AACOG Police Academy, Schreiner University, Culinary Institute if America, Baylor University, North Central Michigan College, Southwest Texas State, Mary Hardin Baylor, Texas Tech, El Centro College, Howard University, and many other fine colleges, universities, and technical schools.
